He is the president of the ESI Group scientific committee and director of its scientific department.

He was and is involved in many industrial chairs:

  • AIRBUS Group chair (2008-2012) at Ecole Centrale de Nantes on Advanced Simulation of Manufacturing Processes.

  • ESI Group chair (2013-2017) at Ecole Centrale de Nantes on Advanced Simulation based on Model Order Reduction.

  • ESI Group Chair (2018-2023) at Arts et Métiers Institute of Technology on Physics Informed Digital Twins.

  • SKF Chair (2023-…) at Arts et Métiers Institute of Technology on Scientific Machine Learning Applied to Simulation and Control under Extreme Constraints.

  • RTE Chair (2023-…) at Arts et Métiers Institute of Technology on Hybrid Modelling of Electrical Assets.

  • KEYSIGHT Chair (2024-…) at Arts et Métiers Institute of Technology on Advanced Hybrid Modelling and Simulation of Complex Systems

He received many scientific awards, among them the IACM Fellow award (Sao Paulo, 2012), the IACM Zienkiewicz award (New York, 2018), the ESAFORM award (Stuttgart, 2000), ….

He is author of more than 400 papers in peer-reviewed international journals and more than 1200 contributions in conferences.

He was president of the French association of computational mechanics (CSMA) for 8 years, being the chairman of the WCCM-ECCOMAS conference in Paris (2020) with more than 3500 participants. He is at present president of the French Association of Mechanics (AFM). He was director of the CNRS research group (GdR) on model order reduction techniques in engineering sciences for 10 years, and he is at present the director of the recently created GdR I-GAIA on data and artificial intelligence based augmented engineering.

He received many distinctions, among them the Academic Palms, the French Order of Merit, … in 2018 the Doctorate Honoris Causa at the University of Zaragoza (Spain) and in 2019 the Silver medal from the French CNRS.

He is the director of the DESCARTES project on Hybrid Artificial Intelligence that the CNRS develops in its hub at Singapore.
