Thu 18 Feb 2021

On 18 February 2021, a scientific and technical day will be organised under the aegis of AMAC (association for composite materials). This day will take place on the Paris Arts et Métiers campus and will be devoted to the "Durability of composite materials with thermoplastic matrix". The (French) brochure of this day is available here: 2020-07-Appel JST Dura

The last AMAC-scientific and technical days about composite materials took place in 2011 ("Destructive Testing and Lifetime of Composites", Lyon INSA, on 11 Oct. 2011) and 2007 ("Ageing of composite materials", ENSAM Paris, 8 Oct. 2007). Almost a decade ago!

It is therefore time to remobilize the scientific community around this theme. Researchers from different cultures and backgrounds, such as physical chemists and mechanics, can come together for a day to debate and interact on this topical issue.

The aim of this day is threefold: The first part of the day will be devoted to the analysis of ageing mechanisms, in particular those considered responsible for the embrittlement of composite materials. The second part will focus on the consequences of ageing on the microstructure and mechanical properties. The different damage modes of composite materials will be detailed and discussed. Finally, the last part of the day will focus on the service life under the combined action of mechanical and environmental stresses. The latest advances in modeling the long-term behavior and life prediction of composite materials will be presented.

With that in mind, we invite you to put the date of 18 February 2021 in your datebooks. If you wish to present your research work on this occasion, the deadlines for abstract and paper submissions are 2 November 2020 and 11 January 2021, respectively. Registration will remain open until 18 January 2021.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and your support.
