Résumé :

Since the pioneering work of H. Maris in the 1980s on the generation of coherent acoustic waves at very high frequencies (>100GHz), the versatility of picosecond acoustics has made it possible to tackle a large number of problems, ranging from solid-state physics to cell regeneration, via geophysics or more applied fields such as corrosion or microelectronics.  After outlining the basic principles of these time-resolved pump-probe approaches, we will attempt to illustrate the technique's potential on a wide range of systems.
