From the very beginning of the containment in France, several members of the laboratory and the Paris Campus, expressed the wish to mobilize their skills and certain means of the laboratory/campus to manufacture protective equipment for caregivers. After discussions with caregivers and medical colleagues, in consultation with the various solidarity movements that the crisis has generated, face-shields were made.

These face-shields consist of a rhodoïd type A4 pastic sheet (the one used for report protection or, more anciently, for projection slides) and a headband.

Some colleagues quickly 3S-printed at home thus becoming Makers. Subsequently, other colleagues were mobilized to design, have an injection mould machined for a headband and optimize the injection settings in order to mass produce headbands on the injection moulding machine of the Polymer Processing Resource Centre.

This solidarity and collective adventure has resulted in the production of more than 10,000 visors that have been redistributed free of charge to caregivers and certain public services. This was made possible thanks to the broad involvement of colleagues who could make themselves available due to their personal constraints, to donations made by manufacturers and suppliers of raw materials and to special budgetary possibilities set up by our supervisors.

The models thus produced have been validated by various health structures such as the AP-HP Avicienne Hospital in Bobigny.

You will find below a few examples of our generous material donors.
